Do the stars really determine my actions and the world around me? Do the planets really determine my compatibility with other people? Okay, I am not really pondering about how good astrology is anyway or if it works at all! My question merely is; what good is it anyway?! What good is a life where you consult your astrologer before you take a crap? I wonder, if it is a good time to wash my bottom. We do like to be in control of our lives don’t we? But surprising as it my sound, I think many of us are afraid of being in control of their lives. It is sometimes easier to take orders from someone than to take all the hard decisions yourself. You can always blame them if things go wrong. Decisions, decisions, decisions! Sample this hypothetical situation:

You have a problem and you go decide to go an astrologer for some reason this time. No, of course he doesn’t give you a solution to your problem. He doesn’t give you a different perspective or help you solve the problem at all. Instead the astrologer enables you, to take *your* shoddy problem and help you blame the darned *planets* for it! Voila! It isn’t your problem anymore! You don’t even have to bother looking for a solution now. Searching for a solution won’t help anyway, bad stuff happened to you because it had to happen, not because you did anything wrong, No sir! That darned project was doomed to fail anyway and there was nothing you could have done to stop it. Heck! You are not lazy; laziness is in your natal charts! Good time is just around the corner; let me sit my lazy ass down until then. As you can see, astrology can have amazingly therapeutic effects and eventually you are somebody who doesn’t do things because you want to, you do things because you are supposed to. You not only surrender your problems, you also surrender your mind and your life to astrology in the process. And before you know it you are slave to astrology! Life could be worse really! Imagine, you being in control of your own life. Imagine having to take the blame for all your misdoings. Imagine not being able to be in a position to blame it on the charts. All you will probably have do is tip the astrologer and maybe flash a  22.1023K gold ring with a sapphire crystal before you pee, but it’s all good.

Eleanor Roosevelt beautifully summed up the purpose of life.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

Without free-will none of this makes any sense! Astrology is evil because it takes away from you, your free will, and your right to think or act on your own! You are a slave to something and you don’t even know it! Next time you do something, Stop and, ask yourself why you are doing what you are doing. It’s easy to say “Don’t do things blindly” but as simple as it may sound, it is sad to see so many people go astray, and get manipulated/influenced by not just astrology, but various other things on an every day basis. Wake up. Life awaits you.

Very well written.
Couldnt agree more with you.

Personally I think that believing in astrology is like believing in God. You are just looking for someone to take the weight of your problems so you can be guilt-free and temporarily *problem free*.

I love the sarcasm in your post where you say
"Imagine, you being in control of your own life. Imagine having to take the blame for all your misdoings. Imagine not being able to be in a position to blame it on the charts"

But sadly a lot of people see wearing blue green and yellow color rings as a step towards problem solving than actually analyzing the problem and finding the root cause.
I wouldn't say they are weak people. Just delusional.

Reminds me of this TSN easy shoping product called "Nazar suraksha kavach" which are basically these blue and white color turkish beads which you can pick off chor bazaar for 20 bucks being sold for a whopping 2500 bucks saying they had special powers to ward off those "evil eyes" which put nazar on you sabotage your business or your marriage and they actually had losers coming and talking on the show saying stuff like

"Jiz din meri shaadi pucci hui meri bua ghar aayi aur baar baar mujhe dekh rahi thi aur bol rahi thi 'accha tumhari shaadi pucci ho gayi hai? ladka accha kamaata hai? dekhne mein bhi hrithik roshan jaisa hai?'. Uske ek hafte baad meri shaadi toot gayi *insert sobs here*. Lekin jabse maine nazar suraksha kavach pehna hai meri zindagi mein sab theek ho raha hai"
and they ACTUALLY show the bua with blue color rays (nazar) coming out of her eyes and falling on the girl and the nazar surakshan kavach protecting it and reflecting it back to her!! LOL!!! :D
You have to see it to believe it!! :)

or in other words as Sukumar so succinctly put it. Astrology is BS! ;) :P

What triggered this post?
or in your case..
what triggered a post in the first place!? ;)

Well said. This "I'm not responsible for anything" syndrome is why Indians hate to accept blame. Its either the stars, their luck or someone else that's responsible.

Our driver's daughter was in a minor fire accident. Immediately, the neighbors told him "The ghost of a woman who died in a fire accident must have caused this accident". The driver took it seriously. How stupid. His daughter's carelessness isn't the cause of the accident. Its the ghost of a dead woman!

Wish we'll grow up. Because that's what taking responsibility implies - growing up.

Thanks for the comment man! Glad you liked the post.

Thanks for liking the post sukumar. Satanic is the more appropriate word I think ;-)

WHOA! Tera comment mere post se bada nikla yaar! Is comment ka to face to face milke jawab dena padega. :P

And yeah I have seen that silly shopping shit on TV when I was in school I think. A lot of people actually buy that stuff you know?

I usually tend to ignore such stuff around me, I tell myself that all kinds of people make up the world and walk away. But it hurts when you see some one you know well go in such meaningless direction and all attempts to make them realize the truth go futile.

Thanks for the comment! ;)

I have known you for a long time. I knew you were a weird guy. But never knew so weird. LOL... was joking dude. You have a point to which I fully support. But at the same time you must know the backbone of astrology is mathematics. Now, I am not supporting Astrologist's. If you met a true astrologer he would never talk to you about a deja vu. His answers would be vague and are "predictions". If all astrologers were right then they will be able to predict their D-day, if not at least an accident which they would encounter in the future. I recently met an astrologer who came up with a fracture after trekking, (Dah!! what do you expect). We were joking "Didn't she predict that?". Dude note that I am a purist and part-pessimist, I don't support all astrologers or totally believe in them. At the end, the ball is in your court.
